Today – Three grabbed over killing of Chief.

 

The Kwabenya District Police Command of the Greater Accra Region yesterday arrested three persons in connection with the gruesome murder of the Development Chief of Amasaman.

Nii Tettey Sarbah lay supine on a mat with a deep cut on his forehead.

Two cuts were also curved out on his stomach and dried blood was also found on his body.

The late chief was found dead in his room closed to the stool house on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

The Kwabenya District Police Commander, Superintendent Bright Boafo, confirmed to Today in an interview yesterday that the suspects were arrested at about 11:10 p.m., on Monday, June 12, 2017 by the police patrol team at Rich View Hotel near Abuom junction at Kwabenya in Accra on a tip-off by an informant.

Those arrested are Cobra, Rahim Yakubu and Musah Mohammed. According to the police, the three were hiding in a hotel to attack another victim.

PPP man jabs NDC over 25 year’s anniversary

Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Nana Ofori Owusu, says there is nothing for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to celebrate abut its 25 years in existence.

The NDC last Saturday, June 10, 2017 climaxed its 25th anniversary celebration at Mandela Park in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region with the call for party unity.

Since the start of the Fourth Republic in 1993 the NDC has assumed the reins of governance on four consecutive times.

But speaking on Peace FM on Monday, June 12, 2017 in Accra, the vociferous PPP man asked : “What is NDC celebrating about?

Another Cop shot dead on Afariwa road

A police officer, Constable Michael Kporyi, was on Monday, June 12, 2017 shot dead by suspected armed robbers at Afariwa near Michel Camp in Accra.

According to eye witnesses, the officer was riding a motorbike when the two armed assailants who were also on a motorcycle drove close and shot the policeman.

The sad incident occurred around 9.30 pm.

Michael Kporyi, who was with the Tema Regional Rapid Deployment Force, was assigned to motorbike patrol when he met his untimely death.

According to the police, the deceased showed multiple gun wounds on his chest and eyebrows.

Items believed to be in possession of the deceased included an AK47 rifle, pepper spray, a pair of handcuffs and a torch light.

Meanwhile, the police say investigations have began in earnest to apprehend the perpetrators.
