AN optometrist at the Robert and Sons Optical service, Dr Ellis Quarcoo, has cautioned the public to be mindful of where they seek optical medical care since a wrong medication could lead to numerous medical risks.

He said some medical risks included redness and irritation of the eye, headaches, burning sensation, teary eyes and in worst cases permanent loss of vision.

Dr Quarcoo, in an interview with The Mirror, noted that diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and even AIDS can sometimes be detected when a proper eye screening is done.

Toast for superwoman

A number of prominent female leaders were honoured at this year’s superwoman Awards which is annually celebrated as part of the Mother’s Day.

The event which was put together by Jandel Event Planners and Florists attracted a lot of female dignitaries.

…changing the microfinance game

The microfinance sector in this country has had some challenges in recent times, which have greatly diminished public confidence in the sector.

A number of microfinance companies have been involved in scandals with some still struggling to reimburse their aggrieved customers.

Despite these occurrences, the importance of the sector cannot be overlooked as it provides vital assistance to small businesses and people who do not have access to credit and other forms of financial services from the conventional commercial banking system.
