The Ghanaian Times – Govt secures $3m for Yendi water project.

Government has secured three million dollars to expand water service delivery in the Yendi Municipality, in the Northern Region, the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said.

He said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo was disturbed about the current water problem facing the people of Yendi and its surrounding communities and vowed to mobilize funds to address it as soon as possible.

Dr Bawumia announced this here in Yendi when he paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya-Na, Abdulai Yakubu  Andani in his palace yesterday.

He stated that water was life hence the reason why government was working hard to improve water supply in the municipality.

Armyworms attack 23 B/A districts

…consumes 6,400 hectares of maize farms

More than 6,400 hectares of maize farms in 23 districts in the Brong Ahafo Region have been consumed by the Fall Armyworm (FAW), Dr Cryril Quist, Regional Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), has disclosed.

According to the Regional Director, the FAW infestation which originated from South America, affecting many countries in Southern, Eastern and Western Africa was detected in the country in September, last year at Yilo Krobo in the Eastern Region and has since spread throughout the nine regions of the country currently.

GBA, others condemn release of Delta Force 8

THE Ghana Bar Association (GBA) says it has noted with disquiet the discharge of eight persons by a Kumasi Circuit Court on Tuesday, supposedly on the advice of the Attorney General’s Department.

The GBA is disturbed by the turn of events and hopes that the discharge of the said accused persons would not signify and end of the matter.


New Achimota waste station commissioned

ACHIMOTA Waste Transfer Station, Zoompak was yesterday commissioned in Accra, to serve as a temporal collection by waste management companies before they are transported to their final disposal sites.

The transfer station is estimated to receive an average of 2000 tons of waste transfer daily and is expected to receive 100 waste trucks which would be deposited at the station.
