My Country wants trade not aid – Dr. Bawumia to International Community
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumai, Ghana’s Vice President, has said the government of Nana Akufo-Addo wants to trade with the rest of the world rather than relying on aid from the international community.
“Africa has to understand that the process of leapfrogging must be homegrown and implemented in full.
“The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government wants a relationship with the world driven more by trade than aid,” Dr Bawumia said at the 5th World Government Summit in the United Arab Emirates recently, where he was a co-panellist with President Alpha Conde of Guinea, who is also AU Chairman.
Dr Bawumia spoke on the topic: Leapfrogging Development: The African Story.
He said “the potential for leveraging technology for growth in Africa is huge. We need to tap it urgently”.
The World Government Summit is a gathering of leaders in politics, business and critical thinkers to deliberate on the future of Africa. This year’s event was on the theme: SHAPING FUTURE GOVERNMENTS.
