President John Dramani Mahama has stated that existing senior high schools, in particular the deprived schools are undergoing infrastructure expansion access to quality education.

According to the President, despite the establishment of 200 Community Day Senior High Schools across the country, government is also mindful of the need to retool, expand and upgrade already existing ones as part of government’s holistic approach to achieving access and standard infrastructure conducive for teaching and learning.

This was contained in a speech read on behalf of the President by the Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong during the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Akuapem Manpong Presbyterian Senior High Schools (PRESEC) in the Eastern Region on Saturday.

…defects to NDC, cites disrespect for divergent views

A popular member of the communications team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Tamale, Seidu Fiter has switched loyalty to the rival National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Fiter, also a polling station executives, cited general mistrust, broad insensitivity and disrespect for divergent views in the NPP as reasons for his decision.

“I’ve been working for the NPP for so many years and started voting in the year 2000, not only as a voter, but when it comes to election time I don’t sit in my constituency, I work hard.

“Thank you is an appreciation, to do something for me and I tell you thank you, it means I really appreciate it. When Tamale was volatile we were the few guys on radio defending the party and we suffered brutalities within those periods, but nobody stepped a foot in my house; they will never check on you because they think it is a tradition and you can’t leave.

11-room storey building demolished

…without court notice driver grabbed

An eleven-room storey building at an area called Oyarifa Gravel Pit belonging to one Rev. William Amoako Atta Junior has been demolished without any court notice.

The dispute over the ownership of the six plots of land in the area across two weeks ago when someone popped up to claim ownership of one plot of the allocated area where construction works were ongoing.

This compelled Rev. Atta to make a formal complaint to the Property Fraud Unit of the Ghana Police to resolve the matter.

According to him, the department of the Police Service told the two feuding parties to go and make a search on the land to identify the proper registered name on the land for redress.
