Isolated cases of violence rock voter transfer
…Suhum, Asunafo South EC offices closed down
ISOLATED cases of violence have rocked the transfer of voter exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Supporters of some political parties are said to have ransacked EC offices in the Asunafo South Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region last Monday and Suhum in the Eastern Region last Thursday forcing the commission to suspend the exercise in those areas.
But the EC said the transfer of votes exercise had been generally peaceful and that the cases of violence reported were localized.
The Assistant Head of Communications at the EC, Mr Yussif Alhassan Yakubu, told the Daily Graphic yesterday that the EC had recorded violence at only three of its 215 offices, saying that was very insignificant to mar the exercise.
